about
For those that live in the small, tight-knit neighborhood of La Colonia de Eden Gardens in Solana Beach, St. Leo Mission Church has served as a cornerstone of the community since 1947. The church has served as both a place of worship and a gathering place for those that live in the largely-hispanic neighborhood. And as one of few churches in San Diego that holds all of their services entirely in Spanish, St. Leo’s now draws parishioners from throughout North County. But what makes St. Leo’s truly unique is that right on the grounds of the church stand free medical and dental clinics, which provide much-needed care to those in need.
In 1991, in conjunction with community-leaders within Eden Gardens, the Del Mar Rotary opened a medical clinic on the grounds of St. Leo’s, along with what is now a 4-chair dental clinic. The mission of the clinic is to “provides urgent and emergency dental services to any individuals who are in most need and lack access to essential dental services whether it be due to a lack of insurance, lack of income, or any other barriers preventing them from obtaining care.”
